Refreshing Grapefruit Mango Smoothie

March 19, 2022

This Refreshing Grapefruit Mango Smoothie has a fruity sweetness with the right amount of tart. Perfect for a breakfast smoothie or mid-day snack, it’s chock full of vitamins.

How to Prepare your Grapefruit for Your Smoothie

There’s a proper way to cut and peel every fruit and vegetable! I’ve found it’s best to find out what the ‘proper’ way is, because it’s usually the most effective. It will save you time and hassle.

To prepare your grapefruit for this Refreshing Grapefruit Mango Smoothie recipe first rinse the grapefruit! You should always rinse your fruit and veg well. Who knows what it has encountered on its way to the grocer, and as it passes through the checkout.

Now you’re going to segment your grapefruit! Pull off or cut away the peel. Then, hold the grapefruit over a bowl and with a knife, cut the segments of grapefruit from in between the white pith. This technique of segmenting a grapefruit is the same as other citrus fruits. The goal is to remove the membrane and pith, and be left with individual pieces of grapefruit.

Using Fresh or Frozen Mango for your Smoothie

frozen mango chunks in bowl for smoothie

In this smoothie you can use one whole fresh mango or frozen chunks. Having bag of PC Organics Frozen Mango Chunks in the freezer is handy for smoothie making. PC has a whole line of organic frozen fruits and vegetables that are a real staple in a veg-centric kitchen.

It’s easiest to use frozen mango chunks, plus the more frozen elements you use in your smoothie the colder it will be. If you’d like to use fresh mango you can. Find out how to properly cut fresh mango here.

Frozen Banana

frozen bananas for smoothie

It’s best to use frozen in your smoothie so it is nice and cold. If you use fresh banana in this recipe then be sure to chill your smoothie before consuming.

You’ll always have smoothie ingredients on hand if you store frozen bananas in your freezer. To do this, peel your bananas while they’re fresh (but make sure they’re ripe first to get that sweetness!). If you’ve ever tried to peel and frozen you will thank yourself for peeling them before freezing! then, keep your peeled bananas in a ziplock bag in the freezer, so that you always have them on hand for smoothies!
